AHHH This wedding!! I knew I was going to absolutely love this day, for multiple reasons. 1. Alicia is my cousin, and is totally rad. Sweet as can be, absolutely gorgeous, and tons of fun. 2. Garret is not my cousin, but is equally sweet, not totally bad-looking, and kinda hilarious himself. 3. The dress. Need I say more?? 4. Their engagement session was rad, so I knew their wedding would be too. 5. THAT DRESS!!! So that’s a short summary of how I arrived at my feelings 😉
Alica was totally calm, and having a great time hanging out with her sisters during hair and makeup. Her makeup was already done by the time I had arrived, and it looked fantastic. The ladies at Gente Bella are awesome! And of course, Montana Bullied, did an AMAZING job on the girls’ hair! I love working with Montana. She’s creative, but chill, and does such a wonderful job! Once everyone was beautified and dressed, we headed off to a private residence for one of my favorite first looks everrrrr.

In the meantime, one of my favorite people, Kerensa , spent a few minutes with the guys before meeting us for the first look!

So. This first look. ohmagoodness. Alica wrote Garret a letter, and then waited behind him until he finished. Then he turned around, saw the girl he’d be spending the rest of his life with, his best friend, his soul mate, and they embraced like noone was watching. Best EVER.

I finally got to shoot a wedding at Shelby’s Pond , and it absolutely didn’t disappoint!! The owners are phenomenal, and the property is stunning!! Alicia & Garret did a beautiful job decorating, and once again, we had an amazing dinner provided by Cookies Grill ! The night was spent mingling, eating, drinking, listening to hilarious and emotional speeches and stories, taking loads of selfies, and eating tons of cake. Alicia & Garret, we were so stoked to hang out with you, and wish you every happiness moving forward!!

How do I find out where she got her dress from?? Thats my dream dress! Everything ive ever wanted but never seen until now. PLEASE let me know :)ReplyCancel

This couple is a riot. It’s so cool to me to have so many couples that I really actually LIKE to hang out with!! We have tons in common (with the exception of Star Trek and Dr. Who) and we share a very similar sense of humor. We had a beautiful evening roaming around Clearbrook Park, finding some gorgeous spots, getting to know eachother more, and laughing our arses off. I absolutely can’t wait for your wedding next year!!

We had been watching the weather all week, and it wasn’t looking promising. 60% chance of showers. We talked about backup locations for family photos, and what colour umbrellas to buy. The day dawned grey and foggy, but it wasn’t raining! I started the day at Jodene’s parents, where Jodene was having her crazy long hair curled into submission by Awesome Hair by Michelle, and her sisters were keeping her entertained while running after her nieces. The atmosphere was super relaxed, but everyone was excited and happy. Jodene did her own makeup, which was very soft and natural, and totally “her”.

It’s always a great day when Kerensa is shooting with me, and she had the job of wrangling these crazy boys for some getting ready shots of them! Caleb, his 2 brothers (one of which is his twin. And they are ridiculously identical. I might have had to ask which twin it was when I walked in and saw only one of them…) and his best friend, got ready at the church where the ceremony was held.

I am STOKED about this image that Kerensa got of Caleb after he was all decked out! Lookin pretty suave there, dude.
12
When the girls arrived at the hall, Caleb and Jodene hid around the corner from eachother, held hands, and prayed together before the ceremony. It is so amazing to see a young couple starting off a marriage with God at the center!!
Amazing stationary by Jodene’s sisters at Sister Made !

And because we were super spoiled, it still wasn’t raining, so we kept with our original plan to do family and bridal party portraits at Benanna Lake! It started to sprinkle right at the end of family portraits, so we hauled out the umbrellas, but it only lasted about 5 minutes, and then was dry the rest of the day! yay!

The reception hall was beautifully decorated in the same theme of teal and coral. We had an amazing dinner, followed by some heartfelt speeches, and instead of a wedding cake – a SMORES bar!! Apparently Jodene & Caleb both love smores, so what an awesome way to incorporate them into their wedding day!! And that last pic, taken by Kerensa, might just be my fave ever. hahahahahaha!! Thank you guys so much for having us along, and I hope your trip to Cancun is amazing!!!

I first met Stephen & Erica at Stephen’s mom’s christmas wedding last year. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Dawn’s family, and we got along great. So when Stephen proposed to Erica, they thought it would be fun to do an engagement session with me while visting BC! I was stoked to hear from them, but it was hard to plan a time during the busy wedding season! We finally arranged to meet at 6:30am on a Friday morning. I dunno about y’all, but i am NOT a morning person. But I’ve shot a sunrise engagement in the past, and i loved it, so thought it would be worth losing an hour or two of extra sleep for!! And once again, it was pretty darn great. The morning was muggy, but foggy and misty along the river, and it made for some gorgeous, rich engagement photos! Thanks again you two, it was great to see you again!

Melissa is my SIL’s niece, and she lived at their place for a while, so I got to know her a bit. She was my muse for my first (and only) styled shoot , and she was an absolute DREAM to shoot. So imagine my delight when Jeremy proposed and they asked me to be their wedding photographer!! I didn’t know Jeremy at all, but got to hang out with them both and get to know him a little during their forest and vintage bike engagement session! We had an awesome time. It was super chill, and kinda hilarious at times, and I knew their lace and burlap wedding would be amazing!!  I love the combo of the outdoors/rustic/burlap with the glamour of soft waves/lace/high heels.  Super girlie, yet with loads of charm.  That describes this girl to a tee 😉

Once again, I had the DISTINCT privilege of working with my girl, Charlene Stam , who was given the DISTINCTLY difficult chore of rounding up these rowdy boys to get some photos! I was much more relaxed hanging out with the girls, who took their time getting ready, eating cinnamon buns and having coffee.
1

Absolutely loved the lace detail on this dress!

2

Um, can we talk about the flowers for a minute? Quik’s Farm absolutely OUTDID themselves with this bouquet. So stunning!!

3

M, you are radiant.

Have I mentioned that I love first looks??  This is so sweet!  And the ring bearer and flower girl didn’t even receive any prompting to go over there and watch.  SO CUTE!!

10

Ugh.  You guys melt me.

11

Then we did family photos in the cornfield, along with some bridal party shots with the kiddos, before heading up a nearby mountain to take more photos on a ridiculously stunning property overlooking the valley.  Thank you Melissa for arranging the location!!

And while she was doing her thing, I was lurking down below and grabbed this shot.

17

Helllooooo stunners!!!

18

The boys looking very suave.

19

And one of my fave bridal party photos ever!!  While we were getting ready, I asked Melissa if we could steal her couch and bring it along.  They had a limo, so couldn’t take it, and it wouldn’t fit in my van, so we ended up putting it in the back of Jeremy’s truck and Charlene drove!  and I’m SO GLAD!!  I love these shots!!

24

Then we moseyed on down to the church, where Melissa & Jeremy officially became husband and wife!!  We aren’t allowed to photograph the ceremony at this church, so Charlene and i took the time to take photos of the reception hall!

25

This was such a cool idea – find your name and table number, and take a selfie with the Instax, and replace your name tag with a polaroid photo!
