I had a great time hanging out with Darcie and Keith for a small portion of their wedding day! They are both super chill, and so was their wedding party!! We started shooting at Campbell Valley Park in Langley, which is a mecca for photographers. So many great places to shoot at! I was recommended this location by a friend of mine, and was stoked to find this red barn surrounded with tall grasses! And that fantastic huge tree?? So awesome! From there, we drove to Revolution Martial Arts Gym , which is where Darcie & Keith first met, for some photos doing what they both love – boxing! I love these images, because they’re so meaningful to their relationship, AND they’re super unique! Thanks again for having me tag along with you guys for the afternoon!!
This session… I can’t even put into words how much I love it!!! The downside to primarily shooting weddings and engagements is that engagements are really the only time I get to shoot during golden hour!! That last hour right before sunset when the light is deliciously golden and soft and hazy and delicious. Did I mention delicious?? GAH!!!!!! And then when you have two willing models, this beautiful little baby belly, the perfect bohemian maxidress, PAIRED with that delicious light? you end up with this. And THIS here folks, is what makes me giddy. Don’t get me wrong, I would never give up weddings to shoot at the golden hour for the rest of my life. As amazing as it is, and as happy as it makes me, weddings are where it’s at. And while it drives me NUTS to have to shoot at mid-day in the dead of summer, I love the challenge it presents, and I love surrounding myself with people who believe in forever. And now I’ll gracefully climb down from my soapbox and just let you look at some pretty maternity pictures 😉
I couldn’t wait for Faye & Jimie’s wedding. They are hilarious, laidback, and totally awesome people. I mean, Faye got a motorbike for a wedding present!! Nuff said right? I got a necklace and earrings. I mean, a really pretty necklace and earrings, but if I woulda known that a fire engine red, gorgeous, throaty road bike was an option, I mean, really?! Haha, sorry honey, you did good, pinky swear. 11th anniversary maybe? Thats coming up. I love motorbikes. We should talk yah??
Buuuttt, I digress. So besides the insane jealousy I feel towards Faye right now, I also just kinda love them to bits. Their engagement session was all laughs and honestly, their wedding day was too.
I started the day with Faye to get photos of her and her girls getting ready. I can’t get over how calm everyone was!! So chill. I’m sure it helped knowing that the whole day was being coordinated by the super sweet and totally awesome Nicole from Sweet Beginnings. Two Seventeen Beauty did a beautiful job on Faye’s and the bridesmaids makeup and hair! And Larissa from Lavender Pier was hanging out with Jimie and the guys where she bust a gut all morning. Champagne, politically incorrect statements, matching purple socks – all sorts of crazy was going on.
Faye wore the same bracelet her mom wore on her wedding day to honour her life and the impact she made on Faye’s life. She is so missed.
The ruffles! Swoon!!
Helloooooo gorgeous!!!Jimie getting suited up. You make that suit look goood, dude. Loving the shoes!!
Waiting for his beautiful bride to show upAnd he definitely, definitely approves.
CHEERS!!!After the first look, we had full use of the grounds at the the Secret Garden to wander around and do photos with the bridal party. I love it here!! If you’re considering getting married here, just stop it. It shouldn’t require consideration. But good luck, because they’re probably booked 😉
And then it started to rain, so we just moved into a greenhouse for some more portrait time! I love this shot by Larissa. It totally sums these two up!
Because of the rain, we had to move the ceremony indoors, but honestly, no big deal. It is still ridiculously beautiful, and the lighting is perfect! It was a beautiful wedding, full of laughs and heartfelt words.
And then?!! PARTY TIME!! A fantastic spread by Crave Catering , amazing sweets by Tracycakes , some limbo, a whole lotta dancing, interspersed by an awesome sunset portrait session. Faye & Jimie, I was honored to be a part of your day, and happy to call you friends. You two are awesome and I wish you every happiness moving forward as husband and wife!!
Allison, you looked absolutely STUNNING for your prom! I totally think of a greek goddess when I see that pale gold dress being twirled, and you with those gorgeous chestnut tresses… Such a beauty! And hilarious – you think a girl in a dress like this, and awesome purple heels would be a little leery of running around a farm for photos – but not this one! Lay in the grass? Sure! Lean against a tree? Why not? I couldn’t let her out-tomboy me, so I slipped off my gold flipflops, rolled up my pants, and ventured into that ice cold creek… Resulting in one of my favorite pics of ALL TIME!! CHECK IT OUT!! ↓↓↓ Best of luck in your future endeavors, my friend! I know that whatever you do, you will do with passion, and humor, and humility. xoxo
Bahaha, this one rocks my socks. Poor Allison is the only girl in this family – I pity whichever guy has to come courting!! And the outtakes of this shot are pretty hilarious too 😉
This girl. She was in an accident last year playing softball, and severely wrecked her leg. A couple of surgeries and many months later, she is getting around with a cane, and just took a few steps without it! She’s had a rough go, but has kept that sweet smile on her face through most of it. And she walked down the aisle at her graduation to the cheers of her friends and family!!! Huge congrats on everything you’ve accomplished, and I hope your post-grad years are full of amazing blessings!! I was stoked to hang out with you last week and celebrate your grad with a prom photoshoot! xoxo
