A while ago I sold my first two gift certificates.  One went to this sweet couple and their adorable little guy Kason.  This was my first time photographing a 3 month old and I learned it’s not easy!!  They obviously aren’t big sleepers anymore, so you can nix the squishy newborn poses, and most kids aren’t sitting yet at this age, sooooo what to do??  Buckets, nests, and mom & dad all came in handy!  I had a ton of fun, and we got some great pics.  Enjoy!

Absolutely LOVED this hat!!

This farm with it’s gorgeous rolling hills and meandering stream is nestled in the valley right next to the mountains.  What a beautiful location for this photo shoot!  Brian works here, so we had the pleasure of roaming the hills, dodging poop, and jumping aforementioned stream, to find the best spots.  The kids were awesome, not to mention stylish, and Brian and Carmen, even you guys were fairly well-behaved.  🙂  Thanks for inviting me along on this Dora the Explorer-esque adventure!

I love it when clients bring along props!!

I had an awesome time with you guys – I almost felt like I could move right in by the time our session was over!  Although I couldn’t for the life of me keep you boys’ names straight… Hey Noah, move to your left!  And Branson moves to his left.  Hey Branson, put your hand in your pocket!  Noah proceeds to put his hand in his pocket.  But it all worked out in the end.  Thanks for putting up with me!!

Recipe for happiness: Gorgeous girls and beautiful evening light
And some great looking guys to round out the mix
Obviously their parents have some good genes!
Thanks for looking!!

I’m feeling a little, well, shall we say, introspective this morning.  I’m generally a pretty optimistic, happy with life kinda person.  Borderline unrealistic, as my husband likes to point out.  But I almost always look at a situation, and think that out of all the ways the situation could resolve itself, it’s almost always going to end ok.  So yah, maybe unrealistic, but guess what, I don’t mope about what could be.  But this morning was hard.  Blake is starting preschool next Tuesday, and this morning was the open house.  i didn’t have any illusions that he was going to be at all like his peers, but I just didn’t prepare myself for how different he would be.  His disability has not bothered me much up until this point.  The odd time, obviously, but for the most part, I’ve just accepted who he is and where he’s at.  I want to be the mom that realizes that he can do anything he wants to, it’ll just take him longer to get there.  But this morning, while the other kids were making towers with blocks, he was throwing the blocks.  While other kids were reading books, he was bear-walking out of the classroom and down the hall.  While other kids were drawing pictures, he was methodically rolling crayons off the table and onto the floor.  It just made his disability so obvious.  And it made me sad.
But he was happy, he was social, and the teachers loved him!  And I know having a kid with Down syndrome is probably one of the best genetic disorders to have, if you could choose.  🙂  But sometimes you just wish he could do everything his friends are doing.
Thanks for letting me get it out.  Because today the glass is half empty.

{HUGS} to you Jete!!! I know what that's like and some days you just have to let it out. But they will both get there in their own time. It may not be on our schedule but they will get there.ReplyCancel

aww Jete! *hug* Blake is such a special boy and has brought much joy into peoples' lives! He is uniquely made by God and has a purpose on this earth as he is. When the going gets tough, remember to look to the Lord to give you strength. <3ReplyCancel

Cant imagine how difficult how it can be sometimes. But I couldn't be more thankful for Blake in our lives…he's perfect just the way he is. He is created by God, and HE never makes anything less than perfect.
{hugs} for days you feel overwhelmed and discouraged…

In August, we hit our summer destination once again: Osoyoos BC.  What a beautiful place!!  We had gorgeous hot weather, and very little wind, which can get bad sometimes.  The kids were a wee bit not much fun, but did I mention how nice the weather was??  haha.  Always trying to look on the bright side.  Parker was up every morning around 5 or 6, and by up, I mean up for the day.  So in order to get Blake to sleep until a decent hour, one of us would have to pack lil P into the bike trailer or stroller and go for a nice looooong walk until the rest of the world woke up.  (The rest of the world does not, however, include Tom & Alice…)  And Blake was not his usual happy-to-play-by-himself kinda guy.  He was kinda whiny and not easy to entertain.  We are sooo glad we took the computer and he could watch his favorite signing movies!  Anyways, here are some snapshots of the trip.  Enjoy!
