This January, I had the DISTINCT honor of collaborating with my friend, Charlene Stam Photography , and hosting our very first amateur photography workshop in Chilliwack and Abbotsford! We both get quite a few questions about photography, potential workshops and mentoring. I always helped out when i could, but never considered the idea of putting together a workshop. I’m not a teacher, and I’m DEFINITELY not a public speaker. In fact, the thought of doing any speaking in public makes my eyes water and my knees weak. But, not only is Charlene a great friend, apparently she’s also someone who makes you think you can do anything you put your mind to!! So, we decided to go for it, and see what happened. IT WAS AWESOME!!! We seriously loved teaching this workshop almost as love as we love shooting. And that says a lot 🙂 We had an amazing group of girls, and an awesome location – thanks to the owner of Precision Building Design! We’re in the middle of planning our next one, so if you’re interested in attending, keep an eye on our Facebook pages for the announcement!
The location of our evening classes. Spoiled right??!!The gift bags for our attendees. Along with a full color, 110 page book that outlines everything we taught so they have something to reference if they run stuck! We also have a private Facebook page that they will always have access to, to ask questions, post photos for critique etc!
Char working her magic
P.S. Did I mention that we’re hilarious? No dry teaching style to be found here!!
The workbook – we’re so proud of this baby!!
Last weekend, we had our final class – a live shoot with 2 couples – and it was the most horrendous weather EVER!! So we found a park that had this covered picnic area, and did our best with what we had. Too bad, but that’s the valley for ya 😉 I felt so bad for these models. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it is to hold a pose for 3 minutes, so that we all had a chance to figure out our settings and shoot them!! But they were amazing sports, and we’re super thankful for their positivity!!
The whole gang!
Yep, good times 😉 We’re sad it’s over!!!
