We had been trying to plan Abby & Pete’s engagement session for a while, and the weather was just not cooperating. On this particular Saturday morning, we woke up, once again, to grey, cold drizzle. But it wasn’t downpouring… So we made the call to just go ahead with the session. Wellll, it got worse. But Abby & Pete were total troopers (well, Abby more than Pete. But that’s a dude thing. Most of them don’t even like photos if it’s sunny), and we still got some beautiful shots for them!! I don’t mind shooting in the rain, I mean, my gear is supposed to be weather sealed and all, but it was COLD!! And windy! So I’m not exaggerating when i say “total troopers” π I speak for myself when I say I had an awesome time wandering around Pete’s boss’s farm in Agassiz for this rainy engagement session! π – so amazingly gorgeous in the back field, up against the mountain. Love the tall grasses and the still-colourful trees in the background! I hope you guys had fun too – we made memories at least!! Super excited for your wedding next year!!

These two. SERIOUSLY. Hilarity from start to finish!! We started their engagement session at Alex’s dad’s property, up in Columbia Valley. So unbelievably gorgeous up there. But it was the morning, and it was COLD. And right before I showed up, Angie had bailed down a hill and gotten her skinnies completely muddied up!! Thank goodness she had decided to bring a change of clothes!! And she just laughed it off – no big deal. LOVE my drama-free peeps π
We weren’t sure whether or not we were going to go down to the river. The leaves are pretty much off the trees, and it’s starting to look pretty dead and wintery out there. But I was just out scoping this spot with a week before this for a wedding I 2nd shot for her, and knew shots along the water would be beautiful. So we took a stroll down to the river, and despite my nervous rambling about them watching their step, watch out for those slippery rocks! don’t fall in! we ended up with some winners FOR SURE!! From there we drove back down to Cultus to play in the leaves, and get some shots by the lake. These two are so stinking easy to shoot. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes couples are just chill in front of the camera. And these two totally were. I’d set up a pose, shoot, and then I’d be about to re-direct, when they would just move a teeny bit into something perfectly adorable and totally comfortable and i’d have to WHIP my camera back up to my face while trying not to knock myself out, to try capture the magic before it disappeared. Easy peasy. We all survived, and Angie & Alex got some amazing photos from their Cultus Lake engagement session! Including their face shake action. See below. If you don’t laugh, there’s something wrong with you.

Amanda & Tyler are ridiculously sweet. And I don’t know if they were just shy around me, but they are incredibly quiet and soft spoken. And yet we still totally hit it off when we met at Starbucks a while back. We had a great time passing stories around about our friends and crazy families, and after I got home I texted Amanda, and told her that she should probably not meet with any other photographers, and to just book me. I got a call from her the next day saying they wanted to! HOORAY!! Nothing like being straight forward huh??
We planned their Kawkawa Lake engagement session at Amanda’s family cabin. So freaking gorgeous here. Unbelievable. We spent some time shooting on the docks, and around the cabin, and then Amanda suggested we hike up to the abandoned cabin. Um, did you say hike? Yah, she replied, it’s only about 20 minutes! Welllll, let’s just say I’m kind of out of shape. And I haven’t hiked since about 1989. (That’s an exaggeration. But that’s what it feels like) But she told me there were views of the lake, and I mean, who in their right mind would say no?? So off we went. And I gasped and wheezed, but made it up, and it was SO WORTH IT!!!!!!! Thanks for showing me around guys – it was a blast!!

beautiful, as always.
Beautiful Engagement images!!
Great engagement photos! I’m so glad they went through with it even though it was raining. The silhouette in the window is such a great concept!
Ahhhh…. such loveliness with the rain and the overcast light. My absolute favorite in the black and white, rain falling around them, smiles as they look into each other’s eyes. As always, you’ve done a marvelous job with this engagement session. Abby and Pete are a gorgeous couple, and I’m sure they will treasure these photographs for many happy years of marriage.
What a sweet couple! Congrats to them on their engagement! This is a beautiful location despite the rain.
Oh, I think the rain made this engagement photo session even more intimate! I love that you can see the rain drops in lots of the images, yet they look warm and cozy with each other. I always love the different photos you get too…such as that silhouette. You are very creative as a photographer. And this session proves you adapt to any situation as well. I am excited to see their wedding photos!
What a gorgeous location for an engagement session. I love how you captured them. So natural and so loving.
