I first met Stephen & Erica at Stephen’s mom’s christmas wedding last year. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Dawn’s family, and we got along great. So when Stephen proposed to Erica, they thought it would be fun to do an engagement session with me while visting BC! I was stoked to hear from them, but it was hard to plan a time during the busy wedding season! We finally arranged to meet at 6:30am on a Friday morning. I dunno about y’all, but i am NOT a morning person. But I’ve shot a sunrise engagement in the past, and i loved it, so thought it would be worth losing an hour or two of extra sleep for!! And once again, it was pretty darn great. The morning was muggy, but foggy and misty along the river, and it made for some gorgeous, rich engagement photos! Thanks again you two, it was great to see you again!
Melissa is my SIL’s niece, and she lived at their place for a while, so I got to know her a bit. She was my muse for my first (and only) styled shoot , and she was an absolute DREAM to shoot. So imagine my delight when Jeremy proposed and they asked me to be their wedding photographer!! I didn’t know Jeremy at all, but got to hang out with them both and get to know him a little during their forest and vintage bike engagement session! We had an awesome time. It was super chill, and kinda hilarious at times, and I knew their lace and burlap wedding would be amazing!! I love the combo of the outdoors/rustic/burlap with the glamour of soft waves/lace/high heels. Super girlie, yet with loads of charm. That describes this girl to a tee 😉
Once again, I had the DISTINCT privilege of working with my girl, Charlene Stam , who was given the DISTINCTLY difficult chore of rounding up these rowdy boys to get some photos! I was much more relaxed hanging out with the girls, who took their time getting ready, eating cinnamon buns and having coffee.
Absolutely loved the lace detail on this dress!
Um, can we talk about the flowers for a minute? Quik’s Farm absolutely OUTDID themselves with this bouquet. So stunning!!
M, you are radiant.
Vanessa from Illusions did a beautiful job on Melissa’s romantic curls.
Finishing touches. Looking pretty put together there Jeremy. You clean up nice.
Have I mentioned that I love first looks?? This is so sweet! And the ring bearer and flower girl didn’t even receive any prompting to go over there and watch. SO CUTE!!
Ugh. You guys melt me.
Then we did family photos in the cornfield, along with some bridal party shots with the kiddos, before heading up a nearby mountain to take more photos on a ridiculously stunning property overlooking the valley. Thank you Melissa for arranging the location!!
Loving this shot from Char!!
And while she was doing her thing, I was lurking down below and grabbed this shot.
The boys looking very suave.
And one of my fave bridal party photos ever!! While we were getting ready, I asked Melissa if we could steal her couch and bring it along. They had a limo, so couldn’t take it, and it wouldn’t fit in my van, so we ended up putting it in the back of Jeremy’s truck and Charlene drove! and I’m SO GLAD!! I love these shots!!
Char playing with her Lensbaby! Super love.
Can you believe that this is someone’s YARD?? #someday #wishfulthinking
swoooooon. Favey-fave. FO SHO.
Then we moseyed on down to the church, where Melissa & Jeremy officially became husband and wife!! We aren’t allowed to photograph the ceremony at this church, so Charlene and i took the time to take photos of the reception hall!
This was such a cool idea – find your name and table number, and take a selfie with the Instax, and replace your name tag with a polaroid photo!
You two had such a beautiful day, and I was so stoked to be a part of it!! Love you both, xoxo.
I’ve been looking forward to this wedding forEVER!! Janelle is the baby sister of one of my very best friends, and I was so excited to be asked to shoot her wedding!! I got to meet her fiancee Stephen at their hilarious engagement session, and couldn’t WAIIIT for this day!
I started at Janelle’s house where Haley Logan was working her makeup magic. Not like Janelle needs magic… The girl is flawless!! I got some detail shots, and some photos of Janelle getting her makeup applied, and then we made our way over to Dash Salon where Janelle got her hair done. They did an amazing job on all the girls’ hair! I loved Janelle’s gorgeous loose curl and sparkly headband! Once everyone had hair and makeup completed, we met back at Janelle’s house to get dressed, and prepare for the first look!
My awesome friend, and amazing 2nd shooter, Kerensa Leigh Photography, hung out with the guys at Ramada Hotel where they were getting ready.
Once everyone was dressed and ready to go, we set up a first look in the back field! Stephen, you cut a rather striking figure in that tux, my friend!!
I think he likes her, whaddya think?
After the first look and family photos, we went to this AMAZING property offered to us by someone who saw my plea for an old barn on my facebook page! It was hot, dusty, and dirty, but SO WORTH IT!! We may have had to run to the grocery store afterwards for some Tide to Go 😉
Kerensa’s shots below – that one on the left makes my heart pitter patter!!
and mine from the exact same spot.
The whole crazy crew!!
We had to showcase that amazing floor length veil – i’ve been wanting to try this shot for a while and am STOKED about how it turned out!!
After hanging out with the mosquitoes for a while, we then headed over to Cornerstone Church for the ceremony! The ring- and sign-bearers, and the flower girl were ADORABLE, and kept us thoroughly entertained throughout the ceremony!
The reception was held at the beautiful Ramada Hotel. I love covering receptions at the Ramada. The staff is excellent, the food is amazing, and it’s just really pretty!! We started off with a fantastic dinner and some great, heartfelt speeches. Then moved to some hilarious skits and the shoe game, which initiated a dance off between Stephen and Janelle! Sorry Janelle, but Stephen’s rendition of the worm totally beat out your cute little booty shaking 😉 Then the first dance, and the best daddy daughter dance EVER!! They started off with a classic song, and a sweet slow dance. All of the a sudden the music switched to another song without even skipping a beat. Janelle and her dad stopped dancing and kinda looked around awkwardly while the DJ struggled with his system and was like “I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s going on!” All of a sudden, at a certain spot in the song, they both started ROCKING out to this amazing choreographed routine!! It was hilarious and awesome and made me wish for those couple minutes that I was a videographer!! Stephen and Janelle, you guys are both awesome, and Kerensa and I loved hanging out with you both for the day!! Hope you’re having an amazing time in Hawaii!!

This is the coolest thing EVER!! These three sisters are all expecting, and due within 8 weeks of eachother! Such an amazing experience to go through with eachother, and i cannot WAIT to meet their babies!! Carina (grey dress) is the oldest, wisest and all that, and is expecting her FOURTH! (seriously, who looks like that after having 4 kids??), Marlies (black dress) is the middle child (haha, sorry, I couldn’t resist), has this dry sense of humor that always has me guessing, and is expecting her THIRD (and if they are as gorgeous as her other two, she might as well not stop here), and Larissa is the youngest, totally spoiled, gets away with everything, (haha, couldn’t resist that either. #kiddingnotkidding), and is expecting her FIRST! These 3 are all totally different, but all totally awesome. I love them all, and was stoked to hang out with them for a hilarious, mosquito-infested evening.
Heather and Gregg’s outdoor wedding was held at a GORGEOUS lodge on the banks of the beautiful Chilliwack River. The location could not have been more perfect for these two outdoorsy, adventurous lovebirds! Their entire day was structured around making sure that their friends and family could mingle, play games, and really hang out with them all afternoon. It was an amazing day to be a part of, and I’m so grateful to have met these two and their wonderful families!
This outdoor wedding location in Chilliwack is perfect in that the bride and groom can both get ready on the same grounds. There is a main cabin, which is where Gregg got ready, and a smaller cabin in the back where Heather and the girls got ready! We planned their first look in the wooded area at the front of the property, and the dramatic light was amazing!!
Heather’s dress was super unique and totally reflected her personality. From her earrings to her shoes, Heather brought in her love for the color green and the outdoors. The necklace she chose to wear is from her and Gregg’s trip to Everest base camp. I wasn’t kidding when I said they were adventurous!!!!
Heels for the ceremony and sparkly flats for the party!
Heather’s parents seeing their sweet girl for the first time in her dress.
Um, can you say STUNNING??
After their first look, we left the grounds with the bridal party to enjoy some of the AMAZING scenery found in this area of Chilliwack. Heather was totally game to climb hills consisting of loose gravel, meander through a stream and sit on a log for the sake of great images. This is my ideal client people!! We had an awesome time exploring, laughing and reminiscing.
Back at the resort, before the ceremony began, Heather and Gregg took some quiet family time with their rescue pup, Riley. Riley was pretty nervous about all the action, but was an amazing flower girl AND ring bearer!
These vows. So hilarious. These two really are a perfect match 😉
Heather’s grandma taking part in the ceremony through skype! So special that she could see these first moments of Heather & Gregg becoming husband and wife!
Is this location not amazing???
The rest of the afternoon was spent playing a giant Jenga, beanbag toss, croquet, badminton, mingling, drinking, sharing stories about Gregg & Heather in their guestbooks, and snacking on appetizers. I loved the low-key feel to the day and that everyone got to have their time with the couple to wish them well, and offer their congratulations!
Oh, and let’s not forget the photobooth 😀 This is pretty much a typical look at Gregg’s family 😉
Then after an amazing dinner of steak, salmon with mango salsa, and chicken, put on by Heather’s brother-in-law, Darryl, the night went on with heartfelt speeches, dancing, and eating ice cream cake!! Heather & Gregg, I was so blessed to have met you and been a part of your day. I hope you have a safe, and wonderful road trip back to Saskatoon!
